About Me
I have recently restarted my journey with ceramics after a long hiatus. Currently based in London, I primarily create functional, wheel-thrown pottery grounded in simple forms, incorporating patterns and illustrations I design.
How it Started
I grew up in Alaska, where my summers were spent exploring the outdoors followed by long winters inside creating with anything I could get my hands on. After nearly going to school for a more “practical” degree, I applied last minute and was accepted to the Fine Arts program at Bowling Green State University. I left Ohio with a BFA in 3D Studies and dreams of what my newly acquired home studio would produce.
Shortly after graduating I got married and began moving around the world, spending most weekends traveling with my husband and rescue beagle. Ceramics became harder to maintain as I pursued a career in graphic design and moved every 3 or so years. It felt like something I would always come back to until suddenly so many years passed that I didn’t know how to find my way back.
The opportunity came when I moved to London at the end of 2024. I joined a community studio and haven’t looked back. Join me on this journey back to clay.
Artist Statement
I have always found the history of patterns and adornment intriguing. My previous bodies of work focused on the ideas surrounding how we present ourselves to the world and overconsumption culture. That initial curiosity has transitioned into a desire to create slow and intentional handmade objects to be enjoyed in our everyday rituals while exploring patterns, idioms, and word play to be incorporated into the clay surface.
